myBAS Johor Bahru Opens myBASKonsesi Registration at AEON Tebrau City Shopping Mall
Johor Bahru, October 1, 2024 – myBAS Johor Bahru, in collaboration with AEON Tebrau City Shopping Centre Management, has opened a pop-up counter offering free registration for the myBASKonsesi program. This initiative aims to reach out to shoppers at AEON Tebrau City and encourage them to take advantage of the program’s unlimited free rides on myBAS Johor Bahru services.
The roadshow, spearheaded by the Sales and Marketing Department of Handal Indah Sdn Bhd, the Network Operator for myBAS Johor Bahru, was launched to raise awareness among a broader demographic. Shoppers are being introduced not only to the myBASKonsesi program but also to the cashless initiatives being implemented across the myBAS bus network. These advancements cover five key corridors in Johor, namely Pontian, Masai, Pasir Gudang, Kota Tinggi, and Kulai.
The myBASKonsesi program is a pivotal part of the PAS Transit initiative, which is designed to provide Malaysian citizens in specific categories with unlimited free access to myBAS Johor Bahru bus services. Eligible groups for this program include:
- Students aged 7 to 17
- Senior citizens aged 60 and above
- Persons with disabilities (PWD)
Administered by the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD) under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, the myBASKonsesi program seeks to make public transportation more accessible, especially for those who need it most. By offering free, unlimited rides, the program aims to reduce financial barriers, promote inclusivity, and support sustainable modes of transportation.
Through this initiative, myBAS Johor Bahru is encouraging greater public transportation usage among Malaysians, particularly students, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities. Not only does this program facilitate easier mobility for these groups, but it also plays a crucial role in addressing larger societal goals, such as:
- Reducing traffic congestion
- Promoting eco-friendly transportation alternatives
- Encouraging the use of public transportation
By offering unlimited free rides, the initiative contributes to fewer private vehicles on the road, which helps reduce carbon emissions and promote a cleaner environment.
This partnership between myBAS Johor Bahru and AEON Tebrau City Shopping Mall represents a significant milestone in Johor Bahru’s public transportation efforts. Not only does it make public transportation more accessible and convenient, but it also highlights myBAS’s commitment to sustainability. As more people take advantage of the myBASKonsesi program, it helps to foster a culture of public transportation use, reducing dependence on private vehicles and supporting environmental conservation.
