Handal Indah Successfully Deploys 21 Pink Buses for SBST Melaka
Melaka, July 12, 2024: Handal Indah Sdn. Bhd’s Operations Department has successfully deployed the first 16 units of buses under the new branding of SBST Melaka as BAS.MY in vibrant pink color.
Handal Indah deployed fifteen (15) units of 8-meter Terus Maju Service (TMS) buses and one (1) 10.5-meter electric Foton brand bus from HISB’s headquarters in Johor Bahru. This move marks a significant step towards transitioning the branding of SBST Melaka to BAS.MY.
The deployment occurred on June 12, and the operation of the new pink BAS.MY buses commenced on July 13, 2024, after receiving the final approval from the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD), the overseer of this project in Malaysia.
The 8-meter TMS bus is a 20-seater with OKU friendly facilities, while the 10.5-meter Foton electric bus can fit 29 passengers. Both types of buses are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities such as efficient air conditioning, charging ports, a cashless payment system, sound systems, security cameras, and GPS.
According to Mr. Riduan Salleh, the Project Head of SBST Melaka, the rebranding transition from SBST Melaka to BAS.MY will be conducted in various phases. Each bus will undergo a thorough quality check before being deployed for operation.
SBST Melaka is currently operated by three operators: Handal Indah Sdn. Bhd. as the Network Operator, and Panorama and Mara Liner as the Regional Operators.
As of now, SBST Melaka is running 21 routes catering to five major bus terminals in Melaka, namely Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal, Tampin Bus Terminal, Alor Gajah Bus Terminal, Jasin Bus Terminal, and Masjid Tanah Bus Terminal. The operations started on May 1, 2024.
