BAS.MY Melaka Launches Chinese New Year Campaign at Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal
Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal, January 26, 2025 – BAS.My Melaka has officially launched its Chinese New Year (CNY) campaign at the Melaka Sentral Bus Terminal, providing special opportunities for senior citizens, children with disabilities, and students under 17 years old to benefit from the BAS.MY Kad Konsesi program.
The initiative was launched by Transport Minister Tuan Anthony Loke in October 2024 as part of the federal government’s efforts to make transportation more accessible.
This campaign aims to raise awareness of the benefits available to these communities, offering them automatic exemption from bus fare payments for one year on all routes under BAS.MY Melaka. The move comes just in time for the CNY season, when many individuals are traveling to reunite with family and friends. The initiative is designed to reduce transportation costs and help ease travel burdens, especially for those with limited financial means.
The BAS.MY Kad Konsesi is a key part of the federal government’s ongoing efforts to provide transportation support to vulnerable communities. The program seeks to ensure that eligible citizens can enjoy a smooth and affordable journey, without the concern of bus fares.
In addition, the campaign also encourages frequent travelers to take advantage of the new 30-day unlimited pass (KAD 30 HARI) for just RM50 per month. One regular passenger expressed his appreciation for the initiative, stating that the pass would significantly reduce his transportation costs. As he typically pays RM4 for a one-way trip to work, the unlimited pass will be a more affordable option for his daily commute.
The BAS.MY Kad Konsesi is available to Malaysian citizens who fall under one of the following categories:
- Senior citizens aged 60 years and above
- Students below 17 years old
- Persons with disabilities (OKU)
For Malaysian citizens aged 18 to 59 years old, the Kad 30 Hari option offers unlimited rides on all BAS.MY Melaka bus services for a subscription fee of RM50. This pass is valid for 30 days and can be accessed through the LUGO app or MyKAD.
Passengers can choose between three options for using the BAS.MY Kad Konsesi:
- LUGO APP Scanning, which offers digital access to the pass- No need to pay.
- MyKAD (Malaysian IC) – No need to pay
- The physical card, which requires a one-time payment of RM10 and can be renewed annually as long as the BAS.MY program continues.
BAS.My Melaka is a federal government initiative, supported by the Ministry of Transport Malaysia and managed by the relevant transportation agencies. This campaign is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation services and improve accessibility for all Malaysians.
