The carnival saw the participation of over 1,000 students from various special education schools across the state of Johor. The event was a major success, and the pop-up counter was a highlight, offering special students and their guardians the opportunity to easily register for PAS Transit myBAS, a key government initiative aimed at improving public transportation access for vulnerable groups.
The myBASKonsesi program is a vital component of the PAS Transit initiative, offering unlimited free rides on all myBAS Johor Bahru bus services to eligible Malaysian citizens. The target groups for this program include:
- Students aged 7 to 17
- Senior citizens aged 60 and above
- Persons with disabilities (PWD)
Administered by the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD) under the Ministry of Transport Malaysia, myBASKonsesi aims to make public transportation more accessible, particularly for those who need it the most. By offering free unlimited rides, the program helps reduce financial barriers for eligible individuals, supporting greater mobility and fostering sustainable transportation practices.
The registration counter at the carnival was led by the Marketing Team of Handal Indah Sdn. Bhd., the Network Operator of myBAS Johor Bahru. The team, spearheaded by Dhiaul Badri, Marketing Coordinator of Handal Indah Sdn. Bhd., along with other key members from the Sales and Marketing team, ensured that the registration process ran smoothly for all attendees. Their on-the-ground presence and active involvement played a crucial role in making this initiative a success.
Through this initiative, myBAS Johor Bahru seeks to promote the use of public transportation among Malaysians, particularly students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. In addition to improving mobility for these groups, the program also addresses larger societal goals, such as reducing traffic congestion and promoting a more eco-friendly alternative to personal vehicle use. Encouraging people to rely on public transportation helps cut down on carbon emissions, contributing to a cleaner, greener environment.
