Traveling Tips Between Singapore and Johor Bahru By Bus

Traveling by bus between Singapore and Johor Bahru via the Causeway can be divided into the section. The accessibility between these two destinations is either through the First Link (Woodland Checkpoint) or the Second Link (Tuas Checkpoint).

Here are the recommended traveling tips you should know when traveling these two Countries:

 First Link (Woodland Checkpoint):

Bus connectivity with Causeway Link cross-border buses via the Woodland Checkpoint.
  1. Singapore To JB
  • Take Causeway Link CW1 (Kranji MRT Station), CW2 (Queen Street), or CW5 (Newton Circus) to go to Woodland Checkpoint.
  • You are required to alight the bus to take immigration clearance to exit Singapore. Make sure you have all the corresponding traveling documents to exit the country.
  • After Woodland Checkpoint, take the same bus to get to JB Customs. The buses are located just below the immigration area. You need to take the staircase to get down at the bus bay area.
  • Upon reaching JB customs, you are required to alight the bus to clear Malaysia Immigration to enter Malaysia.  Make sure you have all the corresponding traveling documents for you to enter this country.
  • After the immigration clearance, you will exit a pathway that leads you to the JB Sentral through an escalator going down.
  • Once you are in JB Sentral, you can take another mode of transportation to get to your destination.
  • The bus bay area for Johor Bahru buses is located at the JB Sentral bus terminal just below the link bridge between the CIQ Complex and the JB City Centre Shopping Mall Complex.
  1. Johor Bahru To Singapore
  • Take any buses in Johor Bahru to get connected to JB Sentral.
  • From JB Sentral, proceed to the CIQ complex to get to the immigration area to exit Malaysia. Make sure you all have the necessary documents to exit the country.
  • After clearing the immigration, you need to get down following the direction to get to the CIQ bus bay area leading to Singapore.
  • In order not to be delayed on your trip, you can take any Causeway Link buses to get to Woodland Checkpoint before you continue your journey to Singapore. Refer to the bus timekeeper if you require any assistance during your journey.
  • After reaching the woodland checkpoint, you are required to alight the bus and proceed straight to the Woodland Immigration Checkpoint to enter Singapore. Make sure you have all the necessary documents when entering the country. If you have luggage with you, you are required to carry them and bring them up for custom clearance.
  • After clearing the checkpoint, you required to get down and look for the buses that will lead you to your destination. Causeway Link CW1 (Kranji MRT Station), CW2 (Queen Street), or CW5 (Newton Circus)

 

Second Link (Tuas Checkpoint):

Bus connectivity with Causeway Link cross-border buses via the Tuas Checkpoint.
  1. Singapore To JB
  • Take Causeway Link CW6 (Boonlay), CW3, C4S and CW4 (Jurong East Interchange) or CW7 (Tuas MRT Station) to go to Tuas Checkpoint.
  • You are required to alight the bus to proceed for immigration clearance when exiting Singapore. Make sure you have all the corresponding traveling documents for you to exit the country.
  • After Tuas Checkpoint, take the same bus to get to JB Customs. The buses are located just at the bus bay right after the Immigration area.
  • Upon reaching the JB customs area, you are required to alight the bus to get to the Malaysia Immigration to enter the country. Make sure you have all the corresponding traveling documents to enter Malaysia.
  • After the immigration clearance, you will exit an area that leads you to the bus bay area at the CIQ Second Link to take any Johor Bahru buses.
  • If you require assistance on the ground to get to your destination, there are Causeway Link timekeepers on the ground who can assist you to take the right bus. You can also refer to the directional signages of Causeway Link in the area.
  1. Johor Bahru To Singapore
  • Take any buses in the Johor Bahru to get connected to CIQ Second Link.
  • The bus will drop all passengers right at the doorstep of the immigration center for clearance. Make sure you all have the necessary documents to exit the country.
  • After clearing the immigration, you need to proceed to the CIQ bus bay area just beside the immigration centre.
  • Take any buses to get the Tuas Checkpoint to enter Singapore. Make sure you have all the necessary documents when entering the country. If you have luggage with you, you are required to carry them and bring them up for custom clearance.
  • After clearing the checkpoint, you are required to proceed at the bus bay area to get to your bus according to your desired destination. The buses are Causeway Link CW6 (Boonlay), CW3, C4S and CW4 (Jurong East Interchange) or CW7 (Tuas MRT Station) to go to Tuas Checkpoint.

Other notes:

  1. Photography and videography during the immigration clearance are strictly not allowed.
  2. You are required to carry your own luggage to get to the customs clearance to enter and exit both countries.
  3. If you are a regular traveler, you are highly advised to take the ManjaLink card to get discounts on your daily bus ride.
  4. If you are traveling between 2 or 3 days, you are advised to avail of the Travel Bus Pass as it will give an unlimited ride to selected Causeway Link buses.
  5. When entering Singapore, submit your documents to SG Arrival Card via an App as a replacement of the white card required by the Singapore Immigration office.
